Presenter: Anna E. Kuijpers (Laboratoire d’Anthropologie des Mondes Contemporains, ULB)


Biography: Anna Elisabeth Kuijpers is a postdoctoral fellow at the Laboratoire d’Anthropologie des Mondes Contemporains (LAMC), Université libre de Bruxelles. Her current research is part of the F.R.S.-FNRS funded project 'Mud Matters!', which investigates the aftermath of the July 2021 floods. She holds a PhD in Social and Cultural Anthropology from the University of Zurich (2021), where she examined the socio-ecological transformation of the Euphrates River in Turkey following large-scale dam construction. Her academic background includes a research fellowship at Erasmus University Rotterdam. Anna Kuijpers specialises in the anthropology of disasters, applying post-humanist and multispecies ethnographic frameworks to analyse the intra-actions between human communities and environmental changes.
