The Missing Piece in the Climate Puzzle – Using AI and Satellites to Gain Real-Time 3D Cloud Profiles


Presenter: Joppe Massant (Ghent University, Hydro-Climate Extremes Lab)


Biography: Joppe Massant is currently pursuing a PhD at the Hydro-Climate Extremes Lab (H-CEL), Ghent University, where he also serves as a Research Software Engineer. With a deep-rooted passion for technology and environmental challenges, Joppe completed his BSc and MSc in Computer Science Engineering at Ghent University, followed by a postgraduate programme in Weather and Climate Modelling. He gained professional experience as a Machine Learning Engineer and Geodata Lead at ML6, applying AI in production and cloud computing environments, before joining the Belgian Institute for Natural Sciences as an Ocean Remote Sensing Researcher.
