Presenter: Jozefien Schoofs (KU Leuven)

Biography: Jozefien Schoofs obtained her Master’s degree in Geography from KU Leuven in June 2025. This two-year programme is jointly organised by KU Leuven and the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB). During her studies, she undertook an internship at the Royal Meteorological Institute of Belgium (RMI), where she researched the intensification of future extreme rainfall. For her master’s thesis, she focused on the optimisation of weather pattern classifications for the study of heatwaves. This work received the Best Master’s Thesis award from her faculty. In the 2023-2024 academic year, she also participated in a semester-long exchange at the University of Notre Dame in the USA.
