Presenter: Sebastian Dan (Flanders Hydraulics)
Biography: For over 20 years, Sebastian has studied and protected sandy coastlines, combining expertise in coastal engineering and geology to help coasts adapt to human pressures and climate change. He has studied and worked in the Netherlands, Romania, and Italy, currently being based at Flanders Hydraulics in Belgium. From the North Sea to the Black Sea, Sebastian has led research on beach evolution, sea level rise adaptation, Nature-Based Solutions implementation and monitoring, coastal protection. He has conducted field studies, developed numerical models, designed practical coastal protection measures, and actively engaged in science communication to make coastal research accessible to students, decision-makers, and the public.
